About

Who are we & what we do

Up Country Feeding Hands is a feeding focused non profit organisation established in 2019, currently operating from our temporary base in Lotus River, Cape Town. We have a total of 24 members/volunteers, which displays exceptional work ethic in ensuring the food are preppared, cooked, delivered and served to the communities in need. Our drive and efforts are driven by passion – the passion to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Our primary focus is ensuring the dorpies & farming areas on the outskirts of Cape Town, are provided with enough food for the entire communities. In addition, depending on what donations are received, we provide the kids with party packets, which includes chips, sweets, cooldrinks, toys etc.

The amount of people in need of nutririous meals have increased drastically since the Covid pandemic, which has resulted in more areas reaching out for assistance. Upcountry Feeding Hands, have build strong relationships with mutiple councelers in various areas, which arranges the space for us to prep/cook, and also a place to serve the delicious meals.

With this being said, on every out reach we aim to feed around 8000+ people per outreach/event, on some occasions it will be more than one serving dependent on the amount of ingredients we’ve received via donations. To give an idea of the amount of food being cooked/distributed, over the last 3 out outreaches/events, we cooked/distributed a total of 65 100l pots.
